The Senate Finance Committee voted today and passed its health care reform bill!
This vote is a major milestone towards reform. But it’s not the finish line. Now the full Senate needs to meld the different reform proposals together – a stage when negotiations often break down. It’s up to us to make sure they remain committed to working together until the job is done. Tell your South Carolina senators that you’re counting on them to work together until they pass reform. Even though both the Senate and House have made great strides toward passing health care reform, there are many special interests that are committed to opposing it. In fact, there were many who said today’s vote would never happen. But it did. Now, as the bills being considered move to full floor debate, we need our leaders in Washington to remember that this effort isn’t about winning a political battle – it’s about lowering costs and expanding access to affordable coverage to all Americans. Take a minute to remind your senators why they must remain committed to working together to pass meaningful reform. |
